This project was completed in July 2023.

This project will upgrade Lascelles Street between Wallace and Ryrie Streets. 

The project includes:

  • Rehabilitation of road surface
  • Upgrade of stormwater infrastructure
  • Replacing existing street trees and planting more street trees
  • Installing footpaths
  • Installing pedestrian refuge
  • Formalising car parking

Grant funding has been allocated from the Stronger Communities Fund and the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

The tender was awarded to Shail Construction at the Council meeting held on 25 May 2022.

Update on Lascelles Street progress

Sealing works on Lascelles Street were completed on Friday 2 June 2023. We will be planting street trees, completing some minor footpath work and general cleanup. Later in June, the line marking and signage will be installed.

Drivers can access Lascelles Street for traffic and parking, but note that line marking is not in place yet. There will be some interruption to install a refuge island but the date is not yet confirmed for this work.

Water main upgrade 

The water main on Lascelles Street between Ryrie Street and Wallace Street was replaced in August/September 2021 in preparation for the road upgrade.
