  • Project scheduleTo be completed by October 2021
  • Contractor nameWoden Contractors Pty Ltd (civil works)

Update -  23 July 2021

As part of the work on the South Jerrabomberra Northern Entry Road (to be known as Environa Drive), Council is reconstructing the lanes of Tompsitt Drive heading towards Lanyon Drive. This section of road needs replacement.

The work will include digging out the road to a depth of over 600mm to build a completely new pavement and strengthening a further 300mm of ground that the pavement will sit on. For safety reasons, all traffic using Tompsitt Drive will be moved onto the lanes of Tompsitt Drive closest to the shops in Henry Place.

Residents are advised to plan their travel and use alternative routes such as Ellerton Drive where possible.

From Tuesday 3 August, the signals at Tompsitt Drive and Henry Place intersection will be switched off until the end of September (weather permitting). During this time the following will apply (refer to sketch below):

  1. Drivers will need to abide by Give Way signs
  2. Traffic on Tompsitt Drive will not be required to stop at the intersection with Henry Place
  3. Traffic turning right into Henry Place from Tompsitt Drive will need to pick a safe gap in the traffic to turn
  4. Traffic will not be able to turn right out of Henry Place. Instead, drivers will need to turn left and use Jerrabomberra Circle to complete any traffic movements.

The Northern Entry Road, to be called Environa Drive, will provide a link from Tompsitt Drive to the South Jerrabomberra Innovation Precinct, Regional Sports Complex, future Jerrabomberra High School and the South Jerrabomberra residential estate. The new road will form the fourth arm of the traffic light intersection adjacent the new petrol station and fast food outlets.

Construction of the link road has been divided into three stages. Stage 3 is being delivered by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council thanks to a $23M grant from the NSW Government and $8M from Council’s Water and Sewer funds. This stage goes from Tompsitt Drive to Jerrabomberra Creek and includes approximately 1km of new road, in-ground services (such as water, gas, sewer, telecommunications etc), on-road cycleways, off-road shared paths and landscaping. You can also expect work to be carried out around David Madew Oval and Jerrabomberra Public School for sewer and shared path connections. Intermittent traffic delays are also expected at Jerrabomberra Circle and Tompsitt Drive.

In conjunction with Council’s Stage 3 works, Northern Entry Road Stage 1 and 2 is being built by the South Jerrabomberra residential development. The developer has commenced Stage 1 works in the area of Jerrabomberra Creek at the site of the new bridge that will link with Council’s Stage 3 works. Stage 1 works is expected to be completed by end of 2020.

Hours of construction

Construction working hours for each stage will generally be:

  • Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm
  • Saturdays 8am to 4pm.
