Annual Arts Trail offers 32 studios opening their doors

The 13th annual Queanbeyan-Palerang Arts Trail will feature 32 participating artist studios and workshops across the region opening their doors to the community over the last two weekends of October 2019.

Visitors on the Arts Trail will have the opportunity to meet and talk with artists in their creative spaces and experience a diverse range of creative methods and techniques including ceramics, woodwork, painting, glass blowing, textiles, botanical drawing and much more.

Visitors are encouraged to create their own unique arts trail by selecting the artists that most interest them and planning an itinerary over the two weekends.

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council has created a useful online map that pinpoints all the participating studios at www.qprc.nsw.gov.au/arts-trail. The web page also provides downloadable copies of the 2019 Arts Trail booklets which profile all participating venues.

Hard copy booklets are also available from The Q, the Queanbeyan Visitors Centre and Council’s libraries.

The annual arts trail is a highly anticipated regional arts event that has grown from year to year. It’s separated into the two weekends to give people the best opportunity to get out and about in the region and experience as many of the studios they can get to.

The first weekend features artists and studios in the Queanbeyan/Bungendore area on 19 and 20 October. The Braidwood area follows on the weekend of 26 and 27 October.

The covers for this year’s booklets feature the work of local artists Harriet Schwarzrock and Jack Featherstone with Jack’s painting ‘Mist bow over Gillamatong’ appearing on the Braidwood cover and Harriet’s glasswork ‘4 a common thread’ on the Queanbeyan-Bungendore cover.

The annual arts trail is a chance to take a leisurely journey through many parts of the Queanbeyan-Palerang region whilst taking a sneak peek into the region’s art studios as part of a unique arts event.
