Charities thankful for community support

Three local charities expressed their thanks to the community for their support after receiving a share of over $2300. At Council’s Summer Activation Events held at the local pools across the region during January, the community embraced the opportunity to support the local charities Rise Above, Soldier On and Treehouse via a gold coin donation.
Rise Above - Capital Region Cancer Relief provides financial assistant and support to cancer patients and family residing with them within the ACT, Queanbeyan and surrounds and they received $976.40.
Soldier On, which provides support to veterans and existing service members including those in the Australian Defence Force, Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other security agencies. They received $571.20.
Treehouse is Queanbeyan Children’s Special Needs Group and provides early intervention services to children with disabilities. They are based in Queanbeyan and also provide support to surrounding regional areas. They received $768.70.
Mayor Tim Overall expressed how proud he was to be able to present the charities with this financial support and thanked staff for their efforts at the Summer Activation Events across the region.
