Free Music Play Program at the Queanbeyan Library

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council is working with Music for Canberra to run a free Music Play program at the Queanbeyan Library.

The program engages children aged 3-7 with movement, play, singing and rhythm in a supportive and fun group environment.

Funded by the NSW Government’s Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative, these weekly sessions have received fantastic feedback from the community.

Shane Dobbin, CEO of Music for Canberra shared her enthusiasm for the partnership.

‘We are very excited by the positive response from families to our Music Play class and look forward to further musical collaborations with QPRC and the region in the near future.’

Cristina De Jongh, Council’s Community Development Officer, highlighted how important these kinds activities are for our community.

‘Early exposure to music plays an integral role in developing children’s literacy and creativity and having these sessions in our library is a fantastic way to build community connections.’

‘We have had an overwhelming response to this free program, which supports the need in the community for activities like this. We are excited to instil a love of music in our local children to prepare them for a lifelong journey with music and the arts.’

The 45-minute sessions are aligned with school terms and will run until the end of term 2 next year. Tickets for the program can be booked weekly through Eventbrite.
