After Council’s Cultural Development staff put a call out for artists to be part of an exhibition celebrating The Q – Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre’s 10th birthday, the response has been overwhelming. Nearly 100 art works have been entered, many from artists who have been past participants in more than 120 exhibitions and displays at The Q since it opened in 2008.

Georgina Perri, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council’s Team Leader Culture, Arts and Museums has been coordinating the The Q Exhibition Space for the past 10 years and is very pleased to have so many artists come forward and support the exhibition celebrating ten years.

“The exhibitions we have hosted over the years have included many local and community artists and organisations, national touring displays and exhibitions, and a large number of international artists.

“Combine this with Council’s annual program of exhibitions and awards, and we have been a very busy venue over the past 10 years,” Georgina said.

Local artists have really come to the party for the exhibition titled TEN, and have been inspired by the theme of celebration, party, anniversary and birthday.

“The results are some really wonderful fun, vibrant paintings, drawings and sculptures,” Georgina concluded.

The TEN exhibition opens at 6pm on Thursday 8 March and closes on 24 March. It is located in The Q Exhibition Space in The Q building at the rear of 253 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan and is open 10am-4pm weekdays and 10am-2pm on Saturdays.

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council encourages everyone to join us on the opening night of TEN.
