QPRC Regional Art Awards 2019 winners announced

The winners of the 2019 QPRC Regional Art Awards were officially announced on Tuesday evening at The Q by Jacquelyn Richards, Portfolio General Manager, Community Choice for QPRC. A crowd of around seventy people gathered to see the exhibition and hear the Award recipients for 2019.
The winners were:
$2,000 2019 Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Art Award: Linda Dening for her charcoal drawing, Into the Night
$500 Emerging Artist Award: Holly Treadaway for her drawing on paper, titled Vickie
The Hive Studio Exhibition Award (value up to $1500): Patrick Morison for his painting, titled Sweetheart
This years’ guest judges were Susan Foxlee, Co-owner and Director of Suki & Hugh Gallery in Bungendore, Alex Asch, a practicing artist whose work is in corporate collections in Australia, USA, UK and Netherlands as well as National Australian Gallery, Artbank, the ACT Legislative Assembly, the Wesley Art Foundation and Canberra Museum and Gallery and Maggie Hickey, president of BRAG – Braidwood Regional Art Gallery. Helen and Simon Ferguson of the Queanbeyan Hive judged the Hive Exhibition Award.
The judges’ decisions were unanimous, looking to award works that demonstrated ‘risk taking’ and deviated from the norm be that in subject, media or technique.

- The QPRC Art Award
- Emerging Artist Award (19 emerging artists in total)
- The Hive Exhibition Award
- The People’s Choice Award (which will be announced on 31st October)
Visitors are now encouraged to cast their vote for the $500 People’s Choice Award by visiting the exhibition to cast their votes. This award will be announced on 31st October.
The exhibition continues from 15 October – 2 November at The Q gallery, open weekdays 10am – 4pm and Saturdays 10am – 2pm.
