Stock on roads over Christmas and New Year period
Published on 21 December 2018
During the Christmas and New Year period there will travelling stock in our local government area.
There will be a mob of about 400 cattle coming through the townships of Bungendore, Hoskinstown and Captains Flat, on their way from Gundagai to Nimmitabel. Land managers and drivers are being cautioned to slow down and use caution when approaching the mob.
The cattle will enter the area along the Collector road then onto the Taylors Creek road, onto Bungendore Tarago road, through Bungendore township on the Kings Hwy to Trucking Yard lane onto Hoskinstown road through to the Captains Flat road. The cattle will pass around Captains Flat using Miners road then onto the Jerangle road south and out of the district.
‘Cattle ahead’ road signs will be posted on the roads within 5km either side of the traveling stock as they move through the district. Exact dates of stock movement along individual stretches of road and through each township are difficult to forecast and will be subject to local conditions.
Land managers or members of the community can contact Phil McGrath, Senior Biosecurity Officer, on 0427 006 344 with any questions.
