Council is proud to announce the grand opening of a new coffee cart in the Queanbeyan Library. Queanbeyan’s youth will be given the opportunity to kick start their career in hospitality and the art of coffee.

Axis Youth Centre are partnering with the Queanbeyan Library to open a small café within the library. Young people will be training and running the café, learning valuable vocational skills.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people. There is a shortage of job and training opportunities for those wanting to gain meaningful employment within our region. This will be a fantastic addition to the work the AXIS Youth Centre are currently doing with young people in the region,” Terry Campese, Program Coordinator Community said.

“Those involved will learn about the art of coffee through barista courses, how to maintain and service the coffee machine, front of house duties and customer service skills.”

Training is being provided by Seven Miles Coffee Roasters. The young people will be supported to seek employment within the hospitality industry on completion of their course.

The coffee cart also will be running a ‘pay it forward’ opportunity for customers to purchase a coffee for someone in need within our community.

Come along to our grand opening and try some amazing coffee.
