Our Purpose

AXIS Youth Centre is a safe, supervised, drug and alcohol free recreational space for young people aged 12-25. AXIS Youth Centre is the city's hub of information, entertainment, advice, assistance and referral for all young people in the Queanbeyan-Palerang area. Our friendly, approachable and non-judgemental staff are available for advice on any issue between 10am and close of drop-in. They are always keen to chat about anything that may be troubling you. We would like to meet any and every youth from Queanbeyan and Palerang. If you have not been to the centre before, please drop by and check it out. There will be a program, activity or event for you! You will always find a friendly face and a fun and relaxed environment here.

Koori Group

AXIS Youth Centre will be running a Koori group every Tuesday afternoon from 3.30 – 5pm. It was identified mid-2016 that there is a large number of displaced indigenous youth in the Queanbeyan area. This program aims to provide these young indigenous boys with opportunities to develop into strong indigenous leaders through cultural knowledge.

The main objectives from this program is for the participants to learn history and share stories, build confidence and resilence within the community, engage in the education system, address any barriers and learn traditional customs and practices. We will also work with these young indigenous boys to teach them to become mentors to the younger generation. There will be a number of practical activities, such as boomerang making, didgeridoo making, cooking and more.
