Here's the summary of this week's Council meeting:

  • Council heard from 12 members of the public who made presentations about matters on the agenda
  • Council granted delegated authority to the CEO to determine development application for subdivision of 59 lots at 360A Lanyon Drive, Tralee subject to the registration of the subdivision of land. A councillor workshop will consider cumulative noise implications of development in the area.
  • Development application for mixed-use development, including child care centre, gym, and two commercial tenancies at 14 Ferdinand Lane, Jerrabomberra was deferred to further consider parking issues
  • Development application for construction of two sheds at 124 Hickey Road, Sutton was refused and Council will commence enforcement proceedings requiring the demolition of the unauthorised sheds
  • Development application for a telecommunications facility at 34 Powell Drive, Carwoola was granted conditional approval
  • Council will provide a letter of approval to the NSW Legacy Mines Program to undertake rehabilitation work at 66 Old Mines Road, Captains Flat, noting that works include partial removal of an old surge bin which is a listed heritage item
  • Council endorsed four projects to be funded from the Local Government Recovery Grants Program following damage by the 22 February flood event. The projects are: replacing Karabar Preschool roof, repair sealed pavement damage on Nerriga Road and on Cooma Road, and shoulder grading and roadside drainage on Reidsdale Road.
  • Council awarded the contract for the upgrade of Lascelles St, Braidwood based on tendered schedule of rates to Shail Construction
  • Council authorised the CEO to make an application to the ACT Government to incorporate parts of Mountain and Nimrod Roads into the Queanbeyan Sewage Treatment Plant site
  • Council awarded the contract for the upgrade of the boiler at the Queanbeyan Aquatic Centre to Carrier Australia for the sum of $384,964
  • The draft Resourcing Strategy; Long-Term Financial Plan 2022-32 and draft Workforce Management Strategy 2022-26 will be placed on public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council will request to be Crown Land Manager for Ryrie Park North, a necessary step in the upgrade of Braidwood Pool
  • Council received the March 2022 Quarterly Budget Review Statement and adopted the budget variations, noting the estimated consolidated budget deficit of $9.4m
  • The investment report for April 2022 was received, noting a return of -$302,433
  • Council noted a report on the NSW Government’s proposed Bungendore High School project
  • Council received a report on workshops held from 5-8 May 2022 that included presentations from Veolia on Woodlawn Advanced Energy Recovery Centre and update on EIS; Monaro Rail Trail Inc project update; and the 15 Year Management Review by NSW Heritage of the Braidwood and its Setting State Heritage Register Listing
  • Council noted minutes of the QPRC Sports Council
  • Council noted that Refugee Week is marked from 19-25 June and agreed to support local refugee and asylum seeker groups mark the week
  • Council will receive a progress report on the Dunns Creek Road Corridor project
