Animals

Find an Off-Lead Dog Park

You can exercise and socialise your dog off-lead in nine designated dog off-lead areas across the municipality. We expect that both dogs and owners are well behaved in our off-lead areas.

Your responsibilities as a Pet Owner

As a pet owner you have a range of responsibilities under the Companion Animals Act 1998. You can also find information about keeping bees on your property.

Register and Microchip Your Pet

To register your pet you will need the animal’s microchip number as well as proof of microchipping and desexing.

Find Animals For Sale, Adoption and Lost Pets

If your pet has gone missing, you can view animals picked-up by our rangers online or visit the animal management facility, located on Ellerton Drive and Old Sydney Road, Queanbeyan. Animals at the Pound that are not claimed by their owners are available for adoption and purchase.

Deceased Animals and Injured Wildlife

We will arrange collection and disposal of dead animals from Council property in the QPRC Local Government Area (e.g. roads, footpaths and reserves). We do not collect from private property. If you come across injured wildlife you should call Wildcare on 62991966 for the Queanbeyan area or NARG on 48461900 for the Braidwood area.
