The household bulky waste kerbside collection helps residents dispose of larger damaged or unusable household items that cannot be disposed of through the regular kerbside garbage bin service, are unable to be given away, recycled or reused.
Residential properties that have a 3-bin individual collection service, and live in the townships of Braidwood, Captains Flat, Bungendore and the City of Queanbeyan, can access up to two (2) free kerbside bulky rubbish collections per financial year. You can dispose of up to 2 cubic metres of waste per collection plus one mattress or mattress base.
Multi-unit residential properties
Eligible multi-unit residential properties with a shared bin service have two scheduled kerbside bulky waste collections twice a financial year. Make sure you check what information is collected. Dates and information about the scheduled cleanups are sent to eligible properties when the scheduled date approaches. You can also contact council if you need further information. 1300735025
Any bookings that are not used do not carry over to the next financial year.
If the book in service or the multi-unit scheduled clean up dates do not meet your needs, you can utilise the two (2) free self-haul vouchers. These can be used for general waste up to two (2) cubic metres. You also receive two (2) free self-haul for mattress or mattress base. You can find more information about the self-haul vouchers here
We encourage residents to find homes or recycle items before placing out for collection. All items except for metals and mattresses will go to landfill.
- Household items, furniture, books, toys, clothes etc that are still in good order can be donated to a charity, given away on free websites such as free cycle, gum tree, local buy swap sell groups, and buy nothing social media sites.
