Nellie Hamilton Centre Council building, looking from across Crawford Street

There has been a high demand for meeting rooms and study spaces in the Nellie Hamilton Centre. Existing meeting spaces are used by the Library for daily programs and activities.

There is a significant need for more study spaces, as existing desks are consistently occupied, and the lack of power outlets limits usability.

The ground floor (approximately 210m²) and level 3 (approximately 310m²) are being repurposed for meeting and study spaces and community use.

Ground Floor (210m²)

  • Develop a large meeting/activities room for Library programs, community events, and committee meetings, complete with AV capabilities and storage.
  • Create a lounge/study area with diverse seating options, study booths, and sufficient power outlets.
  • Add a kitchenette and airlock for separate café access.

Level 3 (310m2)

  • Establish one large and one medium-sized meeting room, both equipped with AV facilities for video conferencing.
  • Incorporate a kitchen and breakout area for catered events.
  • Provide storage space for tables and chairs.

These changes will enhance the Centre’s functionality for community groups, Library events, Council activities, and tenant use.
