Join us as we look, listen, and learn about the history of our region during the Queanbeyan-Palerang Heritage Festival.

‘The festival runs each year in April and May alongside the National and ACT festivals and it’s a great opportunity to get out and connect with where you live,’ says Mayor Kenrick Winchester.

‘Whether you’re looking for a workshop that can help you get started on writing your own memoir or wanting to explore a collection of electric jugs from the 1930s to the 1970s this year’s program has something for you.’

Brigid Whitbread, Council’s Local History Librarian is excited to showcase the collection in its new home as part of the festival.

‘The collection has its new home in the former Council Chambers at 253 Crawford Street. This heritage listed building has had many previous lives and its new role as the Queanbeyan-Palerang Heritage Library is one I’m really excited about.’

‘The collection includes family records, council documents, newspaper archives and other historically important documents and images that have been gifted to the collection over the years.’

Find incredible community events all over our region including the Araluen History Trail and Millpost: Back Through Time as well as open days at local museums, local exhibitions and more.
