Here's the summary of resolutions made at the 13 April 2022 Ordinary Meeting of Council:

  • Special certificate presentation to Ella Osmialowski, winner of the QCCP ‘name the crane’ and colouring-in competition
  • Council heard from three members of the public who made presentations about various matters on tonight’s agenda
  • Council granted conditional approval for a Development Application for subdivision, roads & associated subdivision construction works for Stage 2A and 2B of North Elmslea - 174 Tarago Road, Bungendore
  • Council adopted a new procedure for proponent-initiated planning proposals, including the requirement to submit a scoping proposal as a pre-condition to formally lodging a planning proposal
  • Council agreed to a scoping proposal to rezone Part Lot 189 (DP 1272220) from 1(a) Rural to R2 Low Density Residential and agreed to the scoping proposal progressing to the planning proposal stage to allow for the further consideration of the rezoning
  • Council endorsed a Community Open Day to be held on Mt Jerrabomberra for World Environment Day on Sunday 5 June, 10am to 2pm. A sign at the entrance to Mt Jerrabomberra will also be replaced and landscaping improved around the plaque at the top of the mountain.
  • Council authorised installation of a sculpture of a Pink Tailed Worm Lizard at Aprasia Park Googong
  • Council’s acting CEO has been authorised to enter into an agreement with Village No21 Pty Ltd regarding costs reimbursable to Council from changes proposed to the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct to accommodate redevelopment of properties on Crawford-Rutledge St
  • Council approved to reassign the current licence with the business owners of the Riverside Café to the purchaser of the business and request the new owner of Riverside Café agree to a new licence agreement. The new agreement will be publicly exhibited.
  • Council resolved to apply the maximum rate increase allowed by the Minister for Local Government of 2.5% for the following year.
  • Council has adopted Financial Assistance and Debt Recovery policies and will receive a report every 12 months on the operation of the policy including financial costs and any issues that require attention to ensure the policy achieves its objectives
  • Council adopted revised asset accounting policies following their one-year review, after asset revaluations
  • Council received an information report on progress on the programs, projects and activities of the Land-Use Planning Branch for the period 8 September 2021 to 1 April 2022
  • Council received the Biannual Biosecurity Weeds Report which outlines Council’s progress towards management of weeds under the NSW biosecurity framework during the first half of 2021-22
  • Council received an information report on the 2022 Minecraft Sustainable Design Competition, an innovative way to support education of school-aged children on environmental and sustainability matters
  • Council received an evaluation report for the 2022 Queanbeyan Multicultural Festival held in Queanbeyan Park on 27 February 2022, extended a vote of thanks to Council organising staff, and suggested investigation into expanding the event to other areas of the LGA
  • Council received a report noting Councillor Workshops from 17 March to 8 April 2022
  • Council noted the minutes of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee meeting of 16 December 2021
  • In closed session Council resolved a matter involving an undetected water leak at a property in Bungendore and determined not to write off water usage charges as it does not meet the Financial Hardship Assistance Policy
