Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Ordinary Council meeting of 13 August 2025, held in Bungendore.

  • Council observed a moment’s silence in recognition of the late Bobby Warner
  • Council heard from four members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda including the proposed naming of the Bungendore Community Centre as the Norah Starrs Community Centre and the proposed re-naming of Ballalaba Bridge as Alma Bridge
  • Council endorsed the name of the Bungendore Community Centre as the Norah Starrs Community Centre and the name will be placed on public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council endorsed naming the bridge crossing on Shoalhaven River at Ballalaba the Alma Bridge and will place proposed name on public exhibition for 28 days
  • Council refused all tenders for Contract 2025-540 for construction of women’s rugby league change rooms at Freebody Oval and endorsed a new request for tender process incorporating cost-saving measures. Council allocated any unspent funding from Seiffert Oval changeroom refurbishment to Freebody Oval pending funding body agreement and will report budget adjustment at next quarterly budget review
  • Council will contribute $188,945 to the Braidwood Heritage Centre project’s DA Fees and S64 contributions to support the completion of the project, allocate this funding and report budget adjustment in the next quarterly budget review
  • Council appointed five community members to the Bungendore Flood Risk Management Committee
  • Council will place proposed names for parks and open spaces in Googong Neighbourhoods 3, 4, and 5 on public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council deferred consideration of a Tigers FC proposal to use the Regional Sports Complex as their home facility, until after an updated business plan for the Complex has been finalised
  • Council endorsed draft licence agreement with Queanbeyan FM Incorporated over part 28 Miller Street, Queanbeyan (Letchworth Community Centre) for 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2030
  • Council endorsed a licence agreement renewal with Jerrabomberra Tennis Club Inc over 4 Coral Drive, Jerrabomberra for 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2029
  • Council awarded suppliers onto the 2024-79 Plant Hire Panel Contract for a three year period, with two extension periods of one year each
  • Council received information report about the sale of land for unpaid rates process undertaken in the 2024-25 financial year
  • Council received information report about Councillor workshops on 30 July and 6 August including The Q business plan; Roads Strategic Plan – Transport Investment Framework; Wamboin, Bywong & Suttong Connectivity Options; Aquatics Strategy Review, Policy Reviews
  • Council will submit motion to the LGNSW Annual Conference that LGNSW advocate to NSW Government for review and amendment of Local Government Act 1993 to improve sale of land process for unpaid rates and charges, including allowing councils to directly sell remnant or ‘sliver’ land parcels to adjoining landowners, without requiring public auction; confirming that councils must offer land for sale with vacant possession as standard practice, to obtain fair market value, clarifying that execution of contracts for sale may be delegated to General Managers for efficiency and risk reduction; providing councils with statutory right to recover reasonable costs incurred where property withdrawn from sale due to late payment or settlement
  • Council will submit motion to the LGNSW Annual Conference calling on NSW Government to amend planning regulations to require DA for establishment of tobacconists and vape stores, to enable councils to assess and manage their location and concentration
  • Council will submit motion to LGNSW Annual Conference calling on NSW Government to review the SEPP (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008 in relation to election signage to ensure clear, enforceable provisions for electoral signage and provide consistent statewide guidelines and resources to assist councils with managing the placement, duration, and removal of election signage, including signage on public land and road reserves
  • Council acknowledged recent achievement of local Bungendore resident Robbie Sanderson and congratulated him on his win at the 2025 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation Youth World Championships
