As part of the NSW Betterment Programs, QPRC has secured funding to upgrade the existing unsealed causeways over Middle and Third Curradux Creeks. The crossings are within 2 km of each other on Charleys Forest Road. The proposed upgrades will improve the resilience of the assets and reduce the vulnerability to future disasters.

The proposal involves upgrading two causeways to improve:

  • Flood resilience
  • Road safety
  • Ecological connectivity
  • Support aquatic habitat conservation
  • Reduce maintenance demands and costs

Middle Curradux Creek Causeway

  • Construction of a concrete slab causeway and associated road pavement works.
  • Retention of the existing 600 mm pipe culvert in situ.
  • Downstream tie-in of concrete to existing stonework for structural integrity

Third Curradux Creek Causeway

  • Construction of a concrete slab causeway and associated road pavement works.
  • Removal of the existing triple 600 mm pipe culvert.
  • Replacement with four upsized 750 mm reinforced concrete pipes for enhanced flow capacity.
  • Rock armouring and dredging to improve flow and create a permanent pond downstream.
