The Queanbeyan-Palerang Local Government Area is eligible for $2,247,578 in funding from Round 5 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF).

Administered by the NSW Government Department of Regional NSW, the SCCF provides funding for projects that deliver infrastructure and activities that enhance the lives and wellbeing of communities in regional areas.

Council is eligible for $1,548,810 in funding and can submit one SCCF application with up to 10 projects.

The remaining $698,768 of allocated funding is available to eligible community organisations who can apply directly through SmartyGrants.

Round 5 will prioritise projects that promote accessibility and inclusion for people with disability and improve outcomes for Aboriginal people.

‘We encourage all eligible community organisations across the LGA to apply for this exciting funding opportunity,’ Mayor Kenrick Winchester said.

‘With a minimum funding amount per project of $100,000, this funding can support a variety of larger projects that will help our clubs and community groups to become even more inclusive and accessible.

‘There are plenty of opportunities that would benefit from this funding, from new accessible buildings and equipment to youth programs that support our Indigenous community.’

Council are currently collating a list of projects as part of their application and encourage the community to submit their own by 23 September 2022.

Community groups seeking letters of support or assistance from Council are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
