Be a Voice for Generations at Reconciliation Walk 2023

Council invites the community to its annual Reconciliation Walk for 2023.

On Tuesday 30 May, walkers are invited to meet at Marj Christian Park on Trinculo Place at 9:30am before walking to the sunken garden in Queanbeyan Park.

‘After last year’s walk was cancelled because of the weather and we had to have a smaller ceremony in the Bicentennial Hall, I am really looking forward to seeing thousands of school children and our community coming together to mark this important moment in our reconciliation journey,’ said Deputy Mayor Esma Livermore.

‘Join us for a smoking ceremony before we begin the walk through the main street and gather at Reconciliation Place in Queanbeyan Park. At Reconciliation Place there will be a Welcome to Country before a flag-raising ceremony and dance performance.

‘This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme ‘Be a Voice for Generations’ encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives — where we live, work and socialise.

‘As National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June, I encourage all of us to take the time to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and reflect on how we can create change going forward.’
