Here's the summary of resolutions made at this week's Council meeting.

  • Council heard from three members of the public who made presentations about matters on the agenda
  • Council approved the Italian Community Festival Inc, as licensee of 14 Carinya Street, Queanbeyan, to sublicence the venue and make available for hire
  • Council granted conditional approval to a development application at 10 Whitton Rise, Bungendore
  • Council approved the School Hire fee of $20,000 (ex GST) per annum, for use of sports fields be adopted and that the hire agreements pertaining to this fee be annual individual agreements for Mick Sherd Oval, Bungendore Park and David Madew ovals.
  • Council approved a Cultural Grant of $1,500 towards costs to produce a book about the history of the Queanbeyan Catholic community
  • Council removed a resolution about the Molonglo Rail Trail from the Resolution Action Sheet as it had an indeterminable timeframe for progress
  • Council endorsed the 2023-24 Draft Integrated Plans for public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au/ for 28 days including the Operational Plan, Service Statements, Revenue Policy, Donations Policy and Fees and Charges
  • Council will place the Fireworks (Pyrotechnic) Display Policy on public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au/   
  • Council received a report on 26 endorsed names from the Bungendore War Memorial Committee for use in Bungendore
  • Council received a report on the site inspection of 10 Whitton Rise, Bungendore
  • Council received a report on the status of three major capital projects: the Queanbeyan Sewage Treatment Plant, the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct and Lascelles Street, Braidwood
  • Council received a report on the Southern NSW Destination Management Plan
  • Council received a report on councillor workshops held between 20 April and 3 May 2023, including Service Statements 2023-24, Draft Operational Plan – Donations Policy, Grant Programs, CAPEX and OPEX priorities,
  • Council noted minutes of Bungendore Town Centre and Environs Advisory Committee meetings and will write to the committee to advise temporary community space on vacant block at corner of Gibraltar and Ellendon Streets has been investigated but will not be suitable
  • Council rejected a Notice of Motion requesting a report on the benefits for the Arts of the membership with Southern Tableland Arts that began on 1 July 2022
  • Council rejected a Notice of Motion calling for the use of artificial turf in public spaces to be paused
  • Council will write to the NSW Treasurer, Minister for Emergency Services, Minister for Local Government and Member for Monaro about opposition to the NSW Government’s decision to scrap the Emergency Services Levy and call on the NSW Government to reinstate the levy. Council will write to the President of LGNSW supporting the Association’s ongoing advocacy to bring about a relief in the burden of Council’s emergency services contribution
  • In closed session, Council awarded the contract for the design and construction of a new Changing Places facility at Queen Elizabeth II Park to Exeloo for $247,380
