Queanbeyan’s first Diwali Mela festival is on Saturday 18 November and everyone is invited to enjoy this cultural celebration!

‘Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council has been working with the Queanbeyan Multicultural Centre and other community groups to bring this vibrant event to life,’ said Mayor, Kenrick Winchester.

‘The event will kick off from 6pm at Queen Elizabeth II Park with exciting cultural performances and great food from local vendors.’

‘One of the most exciting parts of this event is the lantern parade.’

‘From around 8.30pm over 100 people of all ages and nationalities will journey around part of the riverwalk with their lanterns in a celebration of light.’

‘Anyone is welcome to join the parade with their own lanterns but you must register before-hand via Eventbrite, as spaces will be limited.’

‘As part of this event 10 minutes of fireworks have been sponsored by generous local businesses. The fireworks display will be from approximately 9:20-9:30pm.’

‘Entertainment for the evening will finish off with a DJ and drummer performance on stage until 10 pm.’
