Art design for 2024 Art Awards

Council is inviting artists from the Queanbeyan Palerang region to enter the 2024 QPRC and Bendigo Bank Art Awards.

The Braidwood and Bungendore community branches of Bendigo Bank are generously supporting the Awards with a total prize pool of $17,500.

‘The art awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the outstanding artists in our community,’ said Mayor Kenrick Winchester.

‘This year we are fortunate to again have the support of the Braidwood and Bungendore Bendigo Bank branches who have increased their funding for this great event.’

Nick Fry, Bendigo Bank’s Community Engagement Manager is proud to continue supporting artists in our region.

‘The Bank and its Board of Management are once again proud to partner with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council in these annual Art Awards.’

‘The Awards showcase the extraordinary talent in our region, and I encourage everyone to take time and visit the exhibition at The Q in May and June.’

Council’s Team Leader for Culture and Arts, Janita Byrne, coordinates the Awards and says it’s an exciting time for the Arts in QPRC.

‘The Braidwood and Bungendore Bendigo Bank branches are supporting the Art Awards for the fourth time this year, which has allowed the Awards to continually grow.’

‘This year we have expanded the Emerging Artists category age range, making it available to 16 and 17-year-olds for the first time,’ Janita explained.

‘We’ll also see an increase in prize money for our First Nations Award, now a generous $3,000.’

‘This year we have also increased the permitted size of works to take advantage of the new exhibition space connecting The Q Gallery to the new Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct Building.’

The terms and conditions have been updated to exclude AI-generated artworks from the competition in 2024. This decision has been made while copyright issues and controversy related to generative AI are settled locally and overseas.

All artists interested in submitting an artwork to the Awards should carefully read the full terms and conditions available now on the website.

Artists aged 16 years and over who live in the Queanbeyan-Palerang Local Government Area can register for the 2024 Art Awards between 2 - 30 April 2024.
