Bungendore Sewage Treatment Plant upgrade

  • Project typeCapital Works
  • Project value$1 million

The formal design for this project is now complete.

The upgrade works are contingent on a solution being found for the future Bungendore Water Supply. To date the water quality objectives study for receiving waters is being revisited in line with NSW EPA requirements. This will be a key component of the project REF which is currently in hiatus waiting for this component to be complete and accepted by EPA. Once complete the REF will be lodged with independent Council officers for determination.

The only outstanding matter now relates to the satisfaction of the Water Quality Objectives requirements of NSW EPA. There continues to be an issue in obtaining clarity on the precise requirements of EPA here and Council is currently seeking assistance through Public Works, DCCEEW, consultants and EPA to resolve the matter.

Once resolved the REF can be determined and s.60 approval sought at which time the project will be tender ready. The water pricing work discussed in the Queanbeyan to Bungendore water supply pipeline project above will play a part in the funding and sewerage tariff space for this project as well.
