This project will deliver approximately 900m of duplicated road on Cooma Street between Southbar Road to Edwin Land Parkway.
Transport studies completed in 2009 and 2014 identified that this section of road would need to be duplicated due to increased volumes of traffic from Googong.
Initial designs were completed in 2015 and we are now moving to finalise these with the aim to complete construction by December 2027.
In August 2025, Council awarded the contract for the detailed design to GHD Pty Ltd. A preliminary concept design review workshop has been completed to identify key design gaps. Survey and utility location works, along with biodiversity assessments and a noise study are scheduled to be undertaken in November 2025.
The 50% detailed design milestone is expected to be reached by February 2026, when community consultation will be undertaken. The detailed design phase is currently planned for completion by April 2026.
Construction is subject to securing the necessary funding.
