Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Ordinary Council meeting of 8 October 2025.

  • Council heard from 10 members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda, including renaming of Ballalaba Bridge; Barina Quarry; and Renewal of 88 Wallace Street and New Braidwood Carpark - Concept Design
  • Council objected to the Modification of State Significant Development Application for Barina Quarry at Collector and noted key matters that have been included in a preliminary submission to the Dept of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on the proposal
  • Council received reports about reclassification of 88 Wallace St and 41 Ryrie St, Braidwood from community land to operational land, endorsed the final planning proposal, and requested relevant changes to the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Local Environmental Plan 2022
  • Council endorsed the revised concept design for 88 Wallace St and new Braidwood car park and will progress the Development Application for the demolition and remediation of the site. The Development Application will be lodged when final designs and architectural drawings are completed.
  • Following recent community feedback, Council will not proceed with renaming Ballalaba Bridge at Bendoura to Alma Bridge. Council will seek further community feedback for an appropriate landmark to name in honour of the Braidwood and District Heavy Horse, Alma
  • Council accepted the petition received on 24 September 2025 regarding Mathews Lane, Bungendore, noting this is an exemption from Council’s Petition Policy. Council endorsed the operational process to change grading frequency of Matthews Lane from Category 7 to Category 5 in accordance with the updated traffic volume data and Council’s Unsealed Road Grading Policy
  • Council granted conditional consent for the construction of a proposed netball pavilion at 15 Halfway Creek Road, Bungendore
  • Council granted conditional consent for the construction of new change rooms on Freebody Recreation Reserve, 71 Richard Avenue, Crestwood
  • Council endorsed a Category H Grant to hold a memorial service for Jim Snow at the Bicentennial Hall
  • Council endorsed the Special Rate Variation report as an addendum to the 2023-24 Annual Report
  • Following a recent period of community consultation, Council named the Bungendore Community Centre the Norah Starrs Community Centre
  • Council endorsed a draft QPRC Code of Meeting Practice to be placed on public exhibition for 42 days inviting submissions and will write to the NSW Local Government Minister objecting to the new Model Code of Meeting Practice 2025
  • Council delegated the powers, duties and functions set out in an Instrument of Delegation to the person holding the position of, acting in, or performing the duties of, the General Manager
  • Following recent community consultation, Council adopted: Road Names Policy; Equal Employment Opportunity Policy; Statement of Business Ethics; Green Cleaning Policy; Potable and Recycled Water Policy; Waterwise Policy; Sporting Gallery Policy; and Volunteering Policy
  • Council received information report about Councillor workshops on 1 October 2025 including: Collection of Sharps arrangements – Chemists and LGA, Public Spaces; Election Signage Policy Parameters; and Community Participation Plan
  • Council received information report about response from the Hon. Ron Hoenig MP, Minister for Local Government to Council’s letter of concerns regarding LGNSW Cost Shifting Report 2025
  • Council noted the minutes of the Queanbeyan Sporting Gallery meeting held on 8 September 2025
  • Council noted the minutes of the Heritage Advisory Committee meeting held on 11 September 2025 and adopted the recommendation in relation to DA.2025.0367 – that the Committee had no objections to the proposed pitch of the shed's roof and noted that it will not be visible from the street
  • Council noted the minutes of the QPRC Youth Advisory Committee Meeting held on 11 September 2025
