The Braidwood and Bungendore Buy Back Centres will be closed this weekend, 1-2 August. The Waste Transfer Stations will remain open as normal - Braidwood 10am-4:30pm, Bungendore 8am-4:30pm.

We’ve received reports of discoloured water in various locations across Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong recently. First and foremost, we want to assure you that the water supply meets Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe to drink. We are flushing water mains and working with Icon Water to investigate further.
New days and hours will soon be in place for our Waste Transfer Stations. Our busier transfer stations will be open longer and on more days. Waste Transfer Stations
Mulch at the Queanbeyan Waste Minimisation Centre will only be available for purchase until mid-August 2026. Compost, made from the green-lidded FOGO bin waste, will continue to be available for purchase.
The Bungendore Off-Street Car Park will provide additional parking in the Bungendore township as well as community space that could be utilised for other activities such as markets.

Construction commenced on 19 July 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2021.
It is expected that there will be minimal disruption to local roads (including Ellendon Street and Malbon Street). Access to 33 Ellendon Street will be maintained throughout construction, though the car park will be inaccessible for a few weeks at the start of construction. Construction timing will be modified to minimise disruption to existing business and road users as required.

There are currently about 200 formalised off-street car parking spaces in the Bungendore town centre. Around 140 of these are associated with retail developments (including 113 at the IGA). 66 of the off-street parking spaces are associated with specific commercial services and are designated for use by customers/clients only, not the general public. There are no public off-street parking spaces within the Bungendore town centre. Bungendore currently only has one off-street public carpark at Mick Sherd Oval.
There are approximately 345 public on-street car parking spaces within the Bungendore town centre.
Demand for parking in the town centre is expected to increase in the future to levels which exceed supply. This is due to:
The proposed Bungendore off-street car park is needed to address future predicted parking requirements.
A heritage assessment was commissioned which indicates that the gardens themselves are not of sufficient heritage significance. However, there are some features that will be salvaged prior to construction, including split-timber slabs, iron brackets and some garden edging.
