We are making progress on the structure, with steel set-out for piers and the contractor is beginning to install the structural steel.

Project is estimated to be completed in September 2026.

Project background

This project will provide new women’s change rooms at Freebody Oval. It is proudly funded by the NSW Government in partnership with the Australian Government.

Part of the funds received from the NSW Government went towards the project at Seiffert Oval to provide new women's changerooms for the Queanbeyan Blues Football Club.

Queanbeyan Kangaroo Leagues Club share amenities with the Queanbeyan District Cricket Club (QDCC) in the opposing seasons.

The men and women currently share the Cricket Club changeroom on game day, providing no privacy for the fast-growing women’s team. Queanbeyan Kangaroo Leagues Club also use the social room and kiosk, which is filled with cricket medals, photos and memorabilia.

The current building the Roos use for training was built around 1984 and is no longer appropriate for the size of the club. The building will continue to be used as a storage facility for the Club.

The project will build a stronger sporting community within Queanbeyan and acknowledge and encourage women and girls to participate in local sports with equal opportunities.

Designs were completed by Mury Architects. The Development Application was approved at the Council Meeting on 8 October 2025. Intermain Pty Ltd were appointed as the construction contractor.

What will the building include?

The building is 489 square metres, includes two main change rooms with a built-in operable wall to allow for four smaller change rooms. This will ensure privacy for back-to-back games. Each change room has a designated strapping area, three showers and two toilets. There will be two referee rooms, each with a changing area, shower and toilet.

There will be a kiosk, finished with a serving bench and ample storage for stock and a cleaner’s cupboard. There will be five public toilets, one family/accessible bathroom, an administration room, and a social room with storage.
