Queanbeyan is growing and along with the growth are the expectations for diverse, affordable, and well‑located housing. To respond to this growth, Council has engaged a consultant to prepare an Infill Housing Strategy, a long‑term plan to guide how additional homes can be sensitively integrated into existing neighbourhoods of Queanbeyan, Queanbeyan East and Crestwood.

Infill Housing Strategy focuses on facilitating the creation of new homes within the established areas, close to shops, services, transport, parks, and community facilities. This approach helps make better use of existing infrastructure, supports local businesses, and provides more housing choices for people at different life stages.

The first phase of the strategy development has been the development of technical studies. These were completed in May 2026 and are available at the links below.

  1. Housing Market Needs Analysis(PDF, 4MB)
  2. Economic and Employment Lands Needs Analysis(PDF, 5MB)
  3. Recreation and Open Space Analysis(PDF, 5MB)
  4. Transport Infrastructure Analysis(PDF, 23MB)
  5. Stormwater Capacity Report(PDF, 1MB)

Phase 2 is the preparation of the Infill Housing Strategy, from early 2026 to November 2026.
