• Council heard from five members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda, including: honouring heavy horse Alma; Traffic Safety Karabar Schools Precinct, Monaro Street refresh project; and Development Applications at 26 Carinya St and 42 Endurance Ave
• Council heard a Staff Presentation about the Monaro Street refresh project
• Council rescinded Resolution 1221/25, thus rescinding the Code of Meeting Practice adopted in December 2025 and reinstating Code of Meeting Practice adopted in April 2025
• Council granted conditional consent to DA.2026.0060 for construction of multi-dwelling housing of 13 two-storey units at 26 Carinya St, Queanbeyan, waives s64 contributions for water & sewer as development meets non-profit organisation and community benefit criteria
• Council granted conditional consent to DA.2026.0038 for construction of a warehouse extension at 42 Endurance Ave, Queanbeyan and to a variation to Development Adjacent to Water, Sewer, and Stormwater Mains Policy
• Council noted proposals on naming a landmark to honour Alma, a historically significant Braidwood and District heavy horse, and will place three identified options on public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
• Council will allocate $15,000 in the 2026-27 Operational Plan for design and cost estimation of further safety improvements to the Karabar Schools Precinct
• Council will allocate $50,000 in the 2026-27 Operational Plan to undertake the flood study for the Hoskinstown and Briars Sharrow area
• Council endorsed progressing funding deeds for ten applicants for $10,000 each under the Monaro Street Façade Improvement Program, allocates an additional $20,000 in the 2026-27 Operational Plan to enable staff to work with two applicants to progress an eligible project
• Council approved up to an additional $3,250,000 in loan funding for the Monaro Street Upgrade in the 2026-27 Operational Plan, will seek NSW Government funding for the additional in lieu of increased loan funding. Council will receive a further report on process to remove heavy vehicles from Monaro Street, Queanbeyan
• Council adopted new operating hours at waste facilities and buy back centres, will close Category 1 and 2 waste facilities on major public holidays, and remove the unstaffed recycling drop off facility outside the Bungendore Waste Transfer Station
• Council considered budget bids and determined projects to be included in the report to Council on 24 June for adoption of the 2026-27 Operational Plan budget
• Council will not apply any increase to Councillor or Mayoral Allowance in FY26/27 and will continue to allocate 10% of the Mayoral Allowance to the Deputy Mayor in recognition of the additional duties for this role in supporting the Mayor. Council will write to the Minister for Local Government, the Hon Ron Hoenig, MP, requesting he initiate a legislative amendment to direct the Local Government Remuneration Tribunal to set fees for councillors and mayors.
• Council approved a Cultural Grant of $2,870 to Queanbeyan Junior Brass Incorporated towards costs for a 2026 Music Workshop
• Council will make a submission to the NSW Parliament Inquiry into Emergency Services Funding Reform
• Council endorsed the Complaint Management Strategic Policy for public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au and will adopt the policy if no submissions are received
• Council endorsed the Data Breach Strategic Policy for public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au and will adopt the policy if no submissions are received
• Council endorsed the Directional Signage Strategic Policy for public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au and will adopt the policy if no submissions are received
• Council endorsed the Crown Road Management Policy for public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au and will adopt the policy if no submissions are received
• Council received information report about development application performance and planning reforms
• Council received information report about the National Water Grid Funding Application Outcome for the Queanbeyan to Bungendore Pipeline Project, with no funding allocated by the Australian Government to the program this year
• Council received information report about councillor workshop on 20 May 2026, about the Infill Strategy and update on NSW Planning Reforms
• Council noted the minutes of the Queanbeyan Showground Advisory Committee held on 18 May 2026
• Council noted the minutes of the Bungendore Town Centre and Environs Committee held on 18 May 2026
• Council received a report with councillor questions about Cost Savings and Efficiencies for the Operational Plan 2026-27
• Council received a report with answers to councillor questions about conditions of sale for Dutton’s Cottage and former Queanbeyan Fire Station
• Council receives information report with answers to councillor questions about matters on tonight’s agenda
