Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Ordinary Council meeting of 13 May 2026.

  • Council heard from four members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda including: a DA at 19 & 21 McKeahnie St, Crestwood; Draft Integrated Plans & Reports for 2026-27; and MOU – QPRC, Adapt Impact Ltd, St Vincent de Paul and St Benedict's
  • Council approved leave of absence application for Cr Katrina Willis for the 27 May Council meeting
  • The Mayor acknowledged Craig Pettit retiring from Bendigo Bank
  • Council noted the summary of issues, concerns and priorities raised at the Hoskinstown Community Meeting on 6 May 2026. Council will request an urgent meeting with local member for Monaro Steve Whan MP and NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Jenny Aitcheson MP to seek emergency funding for the replacement or temporary crossing at Foxlow Bridge. Council will request Audit and Risk Improvement Committee audit the Briars Sharrow Bridge Replacement Project and Foxlow Bridge maintenance programs, including review of strategic and community risks, Council decisions, local consultation and project management
  • Council endorsed the closure of Foxlow Bridge to all vehicular traffic, will consider an urgent temporary crossing option in the context of the current Operational Plan, and will receive a report regarding the replacement, restoration, or adaptive reuse of Foxlow Bridge
  • Council will enter into an MOU with Adapt Impact Limited; St Vincent de Paul Society (Canberra/Goulburn) Limited; St Vincent de Paul (Society) Housing Australia; and St Benedict’s Community Centre. The MOU is to work together and identify locations to increase the supply of transitional and temporary social housing
  • Council granted conditional consent to DA.2025.0527 for demolition of existing buildings, construction of a residential flat building comprising 34 units (four storeys), basement car parking, landscaping and associated site works at 19 and 21 McKeahnie Street, Crestwood
  • Council endorsed the revised list of Budget Requests including the additional $5,000 to Seniors Activities, bringing the total to $1,302,500, and endorsed draft Integrated Planning and Reporting Documents for public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au. Documents include Draft Operational Plan and Delivery Program, Draft Long Term Financial Plan, Draft Statement of Revenue Policy. Council will receive a post-exhibition report and consider all community feedback
  • Council endorsed a detailed feasibility review including associated studies of constructing the newly designed Bungendore Aquatics Centre at the site of the current Bungendore Pool and will consider DA costs to be funded through the Donations Policy
  • Council approved a Cultural Grant of $500 to a local author to assist with costs to deliver an author talk at Braidwood Library
  • Council endorses entering into an MOU with GoodLoop Mutual Ltd for the installation of Automated External Defibrillators at identified sites in Queanbeyan CBD, Jerrabomberra and Googong
  • Council endorses a continuing 5-year Licence Agreement from 1 July 2026, for the Queanbeyan and District Preschool Association operating a preschool service at the Harris Park Preschool
  • Council deferred entering into a 20-year lease agreement with Argyle Community Housing for 26–30 Sassafras Crescent, Karabar
  • Council endorsed a continuing 4x5 year lease agreement for a total of 20 years for a Telecommunications Tower located at the Jerrabomberra Circle
  • Council endorsed the Draft Local Approvals Policy for Temporary Accommodation While Constructing a Dwelling and will place it on exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au and adopt the policy if no objections
  • Council endorsed for public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au the Review of Environmental Factors Determination Policy and the Asbestos Policy, with an amendment referencing that asbestos may be disposed of in the ACT, and will adopt the policies if no submissions
  • Council rescinded the Property Policy and will continue to publish the Property Strategy within the Operational Plan annually and remove the categorisation as a policy
  • Council will prepare concept designs for the upgrade of the Nerriga Waste Transfer Station to a Category 2 Small Waste Transfer Station standard, including associated landfill remediation works. Council will present the draft concept designs at Nerriga to the community for consultation and feedback. Council endorses cessation of accepting bulky waste, garden waste, tyres, mattresses and sump oil at the Nerriga Waste Transfer Station
  • Council received information report about Councillor workshops held on 15 April 2026 about Operational Plan 2026-27 and Integrated Water Cycle Management Pricing
  • Council noted the minutes of the Queanbeyan Showground Advisory Committee meeting for Monday 3 March 2026
  • Council noted the minutes of the Heritage Advisory Committee meeting of 23 April 2026, received submissions for a development application and minor heritage application
  • Council will request Local Land Services to conduct a workshop with Council to discuss roles and responsibilities for invasive plant and animal management, advice and assistance that LLS can provide, and sources of funding to support control work
  • Council received a report with answers to councillor questions about matters on the agenda
