Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the 23 August 2023 Ordinary Meeting of Council

  • Council heard from a member of the public who made a presentation about item 9.2 on tonight’s agenda - the Braidwood Heritage Centre Request for Donation
  • Council endorsed the General Manager executing the Variation Deed under the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund for the Braidwood Heritage Centre
  • Council declined the request for a donation to the Braidwood Heritage Centre Project and requested the General Manager to review options for a loan or deferral of payment of the Water and Sewer contributions, and a report be bought back to Council for consideration
  • Council adopted amended Parts 3A and 5 of the Queanbeyan Development Control Plan 2012
  • Council approves Category A grants for 2023-24 totalling $25,000 and Category B donations totalling $34,929, noting that some applicants will be moved to Category H no fee hire
  • Council endorsed formal invitation to Mayor of Ohrid to visit in 2024, rescinded the QCC Sister City Accompanying Adult Student Delegations to Japan Policy and endorsed the Draft Friendship and Sister City Policy for public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council adopted the Asbestos Policy
  • Council received the Investment Report for July 2023, noting return of $1,117,399
  • Council received information report on response to Councillor Questions
  • Council received information report on establishing a travelling meeting kit solution for Council meetings
  • Council received report on councillor workshops between 3-16 August including Googong Dam catchment realignment (GTPL Scoping Proposal) and Land and Housing Corporation – Social and Community Housing Update
  • Council received information report on the Bungendore Office relocation, Community Centre and Swimming Pool
  • Council noted the minutes of Local Traffic Committee on 1 August and adopted recommendations from the meeting
  • Council noted the minutes and recommendations of Local Development Committee on 1 August
  • Council will submit motion to Local Government annual conference: That LGNSW calls on the NSW State Government to update the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) to remove installation of gas in new dwellings and renovations, to support a rapid transition away from fossil fuels and towards electrification powered by renewable energy.
  • Council will submit motion to Local Government annual conference: That LGNSW calls on the NSW State Government to introduce to Parliament amendments to the Companion Animals Act (1998) to enact Cat Containment regulations across New South Wales to better respond to the local risk levels, nuisance and noise issues, cat welfare and impacts on native fauna.
  • Council received delegate information report from Cr Willis on the National Government Assembly of Local Government, held in Canberra from 13-16 June 2023
  • In closed session, Council resolved to acquire by agreement a portion of 15 Warm Corner Road, Burra for the purpose of road reserve and to close part of public road within the lot and transfer to the property owners
  • In closed session, Council received a report on legal matters between 1 January and 30 June 2023
