Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Ordinary Council meeting of 24 June 2026.

  • Council heard from three members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda, including: Draft 2026-27 Integrated Planning and Reporting Documents Post Exhibition Reports for Adoption
  • Council heard a Staff Presentation about the Draft 2026-27 Integrated Planning and Reporting Documents Post Exhibition Reports for Adoption
  • Council acknowledged the extraordinary contribution of Queanbeyan-Palerang residents who were recognised in The King’s Birthday 2026 Honours List, congratulated all honourees and thanked them for their years of dedication
  • Council considered submissions to draft Integrated Plans, adopted final amendments for the Operational Plan and Delivery Program 2026 to 2030, inclusive of the Fees and Charges, Statement of Revenue Policy and Donations Program, adopts the Long-Term Financial Plan
  • Council considered submissions to the Proposed Rates Structure, thanked community for feedback, confirmed Option 2 as continue Rate Structure, will provide a voluntary pensioner rebate of $60 to all pensioners, in addition to legislated rebates. Council makes and levies the rates and annual charges as detailed in Statement of Revenue Policy for the 2026-27 financial year
  • Council approved acceleration of construction of earthworks for the Briars Sharrow Bridge Upgrade, funded by the allocation of $300,000 from the Rural Development Contributions Plan
  • Council deferred the remediation of Braidwood landfill site and will receive a report following detailed financial modelling of QPRC Waste Service Operations and Waste Management Strategy to ensure sustainable approach prior to the 2027-28 budget
  • Council endorsed the $370,000 funding agreement under the Federal Government’s Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program for the David Campese Oval Fencing and Netting Infrastructure Upgrade and inclusion of project in 2026-27 Operational Plan
  • Council approved affixing of Common Seal to execute the funding deed contract with Department of Climate Change, Energy Efficiency, and Water for the Urban Rivers and Catchment Program
  • Council endorsed the draft Private Burial Policy for public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au. If no submissions are received the policy will be adopted
  • Council adopted the Acceptance and Management of Cultural Gifts Policy
  • Council received Investment Report for May 2026, noting return of $1,981,680
  • Council received information report about the Infill Housing Strategy and technical studies that have been prepared
  • Council received information report about the transition of Red Fleet Firefighting Fleet from Local Councils to RFS
  • Council received information report about offsetting an environmental offset in relation to the Dunns Creek Road project
  • Council received information report with the Quarterly Rates and Charges Outstanding
  • Council received information report about responses to LGNSW Annual Conference Resolutions from November 2025
  • Council noted the minutes of the Heritage Advisory Committee on 4 June 2026, received submissions for three Development Applications
  • Council noted the minutes of the Small Business Advisory Committee held on 10 June 2026
  • Council will work collaboratively with the major supermarkets to address the problem of shopping trolley abandonment in Queanbeyan public areas and earnestly apply compliance provisions should shopping trolley abandonment continue unchanged
  • Council received a report with answers to councillor questions about Cost Savings and Efficiencies for the Operational Plan 2026-27
  • Council received a report with answers to councillor questions about Queanbeyan to Bungendore pipeline capital works carried forward to 2026-27
  • Council received information report with answers to councillor questions about March quarter 2025-26 growth projections
  • Council received information report with answers to councillor questions about access to new ACT recycling centre
  • Council received information report with answers to councillor questions about matters on tonight’s agenda
  • In closed session, Council declined any tender for Fire Services Upgrades – The Q, Bicentennial Hall and Heritage Library, cancels the proposal for the contract, and will receive a report outlining required budgets for proposed packages of work to upgrade fire services to The Q, Bicentennial Hall and Heritage Library
