Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Ordinary Council meeting of 8 July 2026.

  • Council heard from five members of the public who made presentations about items on tonight’s agenda including: elevated fuel prices; a Development Application at 24 Albert Street, Queanbeyan; an undetected water leak; and a petition regarding a proposed solar farm.
  • Council heard a Staff Presentation about the Draft Section 7.12 Rural Contributions Plan for Exhibition
  • Council granted conditional consent to a development application for alteration and additions to dwelling, demolition of existing laundry, shed and outhouse, and construction of carports, garage at 24 Albert Street, Queanbeyan
  • Council noted the development of Round 2 of the Shopfront Improvement Program, using the remaining $40,000 from the Business Support Package of the Monaro Street Refresh Project. Council considered the costs and benefits of extending the Shopfront Improvement Program and will extend the program to businesses facing Monaro St that did not participate or were ineligible in Round 1 – capped at $40,000
  • Council approved the General Manager to sign the Deed of Variation that will allocate $305,000 to construct the new Bungendore School Pedestrian Crossing on Malbon Street, replace the wombat crossing on Majara Street, and complete associated works as proposed. Council will provide supplementary vote for this project in the 2026-27 Operational Plan, funded from the Department of Education Compensation Reserve
  • Council deferred consideration of installation of a memorial plaque on the Queanbeyan Age Fountain in Queanbeyan Town Park and noted that staff will develop a Plaques and Memorial Policy to guide future requests of this nature.
  • Council noted the impact of elevated fuel prices on Council operations, capital works, and service delivery, endorsed steps being taken to ensure a consistent fuel cost adjustment approach across relevant contracts and projects. Council noted that staff will continue to monitor price trends and report material variations through budget reviews and quarterly reporting.
  • Council noted the minutes of the Youth Advisory Committee meeting held on 19 June 2025, appointed Radenko Reljic, Aida Deryngowski, Aylah Cotterill and Cederic Johnson as members of the Youth Advisory Committee.
  • Council endorsed the draft QPRC Section 7.12 Rural Contributions Plan 2026 and will place on public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au. Council will consider results of public exhibition in a future report prior to its adoption.
  • Council deferred consideration of the draft Tree Management Strategic Policy
  • Council adopted the Local Approvals Policy – Temporary Accommodation while Constructing a Dwelling
  • Council agreed to extend the appointment of Ms Hamono for a further term of four years on the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
  • Council endorsed the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee and Internal Audit Annual Work Plans for 2026-27
  • Council adopted the Internal Audit Charter as endorsed by the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee at its meeting of 25 May 2026
  • Council received information report with the annual review of the operation of the Hardship and Financial Assistance Policy
  • Council received and noted the draft minutes of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee meeting held on 25 May 2026
  • Council received and noted the minutes of the Seniors Advisory Committee meeting held on 18 June 2026
  • Council received information report with answers to councillor questions about matters on tonight’s agenda
  • In closed session, Council resolved to clear the amount of $11,389.08 due to an undetectable water leak at the property listed in the report
