Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Ordinary Council meeting of 9 July 2025.

• Council approved the Leave of Absence application submitted by Councillor Kenrick Winchester for the 10 September 2025 Council meeting
• Council heard from two members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda, including the Memorial Park and the Community Engagement Strategy 2025-2028
• Council will cease any further work on the 1241 Old Cooma Road site for the purposes of a Memorial Park and withdraw the State Significant Development Application from the NSW Planning Portal. Council will receive a report about short term options for interment in the Queanbeyan region, including further reclamation of the Queanbeyan Cemetery/Lawn Gardens at Lanyon Drive. Council will investigate potential sites for future Memorial Park to service Queanbeyan and Bungendore and receive a report on options for the Old Cooma Road site
• Council adopted the Community Engagement Strategy 2025-2026 with the exception of part 5 which will be referred to a Council workshop to more fully develop the Community Participation Plan
• Council granted conditional consent to DA for concept development for a dwelling at 5401 Captains Flat Road, Harolds Cross
• Council refused consent to DA on Cooma Road, Bendoura as the variation to the minimum lot size is too large, it does not meet the objectives of the land use zone, and does meet clause to minimise unplanned rural residential development
• Council defers entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bungendore Men’s Shed Inc to operate a Men’s Shed facility and a MOU with Rotary Club of Bungendore to use a storage shed, both at the Bungendore Sports Hub, to allow further discussion by the groups with their members
• Council endorsed a 5-year licence agreement with the Australian Men’s Shed Association (Captains Flat) over 106 Foxlow Street, Captains Flat
• Council endorsed the Plans of Management for the Queanbeyan Showground, Queanbeyan Town Park and Queen Elizabeth II Park Lands to NSW Crown Lands for assessment and comment
• Council approved a Cultural Grant of $3,000 to Wildcare Queanbeyan towards costs of repairing the mosaic artwork from Wanniassa Park
• Council received information report about the Braidwood Heritage Centre
• Council received information report about Dunns Creek Road Stage 1: Tralee to Hume (ACT) connection
• Council received bi-annual compliance reporting information report in response to OLG compliance and reporting obligations
• Council received information report about Councillor workshop on 2 July including Waste Strategy Review and Roads Strategic Plan (Transport Investment Framework)
• Council endorsed the minutes and recommendations of the Local Traffic Committee meeting on 3 June 2025
• Council noted the minutes of the QPRC Sports Council meeting on 16 June 2025
• Council noted the minutes of the Heritage Advisory Committee meeting on 19 June 2025, endorsed recommendation that Council submit letter to NSW Heritage in relation to draft NSW Heritage Strategy
• Council noted the minutes of the Seniors Advisory Committee meeting held on 25 June 2025
• Council received answers to questions with notice about the Bungendore Men’s Shed
• In closed session, Council approved compulsory acquisition of part portions of lots from NSW Crown Lands for the purpose of road widening along Nerriga Road, Tomboye, and making of applications to Minister for Local Government and Governor for compulsory acquisition
