Here's the summary of resolutions made at this week's Council meeting.

  • Cr Steve Taskovski was recognised by Council and LGNSW for his 25 years of service as a councillor. Cr Taskovski served with Queanbeyan City Council 1983-2008 and now with QPRC from 2022. He was Deputy Mayor in 1991 and 1995
  • Council heard from nine members of the public who made presentations about various matters on the agenda
  • Council granted conditional approval to a development application for the demolition and construction of a 48-bed seniors housing complex at Baptistcare George Forbes House
  • Council deferred consideration of a variation to the Palerang LEP 2014 that would allow one lot of approved three lot subdivision at 44 Brooks Road, Bywong be serviced by off-grid solar power
  • Council noted that it was precluded from refusing an application on ‘heritage grounds’ under s.4.48 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 where the development is subject of a heritage approval. Council granted conditional approval to review application for two lot Torrens title subdivision including ancillary demolition at 119 Wallace Street, Braidwood
  • Council rejected a review application for a Place of Public Worship at 128 Bicentennial Drive, Jerrabomberra
  • Council agreed to offer Environmental Upgrades Finance for commercial properties under a two-year trial with Better Building Finance
  • Council will place the Guidelines for Referral of Development Applications to Council and Independent Assessment of Development Applications, Asset Management Policy, Sustainable Design for Council Buildings, Shopping Trolley Management Policy for Retailers on exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council adopted the Managing Unreasonable Conduct by Complainants and the Unsealed Road Grading Policies
  • Council will make a submission to the IPART issue paper on the review of the rate peg methodology
  • Council noted investment return for September 2022 was -$328,224 and received the investment report
  • Council noted report on the road maintenance works undertaken during the first quarter of 2022-23
  • Council noted the Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing quarterly report
  • Council noted councillor workshops from 7-19 October including SRV options & next steps, Titan Crane Noise Issue, FOGO collection rollout, QSTP Business Plan and Qbn IWCM, Policies for review, Cultural Interpretation Plan – Qbn Showground, DA 119 Wallace Street review
  • Council noted minutes of the Local Traffic Committee
  • In closed session, Council received the quarterly legal report
  • In closed session, Council awarded the contract for the construction of a new pavilion at the Queanbeyan Showground to Rice Constructions Group in the value of $785,000
