  • Council heard from 10 members of the public who made presentations about various matters on the agenda
  • Council granted conditional consent to a development application for the construction of a storage shed at 139 Wickerslack Lane, Googong
  • Council adopted the Queanbeyan-Palerang Affordable Housing Strategy April 2023 and will review the associated Implementation Plan to consider Council’s priorities and develop the Action Plan
  • Council adopted in principle proposed road names for Googong Neighbourhood 3 and will advertise the names for 28 days for public comment
  • Council endorsed concept plans for the new Bungendore Pool as an enclosed aquatic facility, with an 8 lane 25m heated swimming pool, a wet play area, amenities, canteen/café area, playground and shade structures at the new Bungendore Sports Hub on Halfway Creek Road. Council will receive a Capital Expenditure Review Report for the Bungendore Pool project and will proceed to Design and Construct Tender when required funding is confirmed, with the option for the project to be delivered in two stages
  • Council accepted an offer from NSW Dept of Education to extend lease of Bungendore Swimming Pool until 31 Mar 2024, allocated $120K in 2023-24 Operational Plan to operate the pool for the season and agreed to extend Proposed Acquisition Notice period until 31 Mar 2024. Council will request the NSW Govt covers the $120K cost to open the pool for the 2023-24 season on the basis that Council has incurred these costs as a direct result of the compulsory acquisition process undertaken by the NSW Govt
  • Council approved two Cultural Grants of $1,500 for a Possum Skin Cloak Completion Workshop and the Think Outside the Square People’s Choice Exhibition and will revote the funding into the 2023-24 Operational Plan
  • Council nominated Cr Winchester as the representative and Cr Biscotti as the alternate for the PCYC Advisory Committee
  • Council nominated Cr Winchester as the delegate for the South-East Australia Transport Strategy Committee
  • Council will lodge a submission to the IPART draft report on the Review of the Rate Peg Methodology
  • Council received Investment Report for May 2023, noting return of $574,513
  • Council endorsed the draft Asbestos Policy for public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council considered submissions and the budget allocated for donations and grants in 2023-24, approved the increase to max Category A funding to $3,000 and adopted the Donations Policy 2023-24. Council will place on public exhibition for 28 days, the list of proposed donation amount and recipient organisations that will receive ‘Category C’ donation for Rates, Fees and Annual Charges relief.
  • Council considered submissions on draft Integrated Plans, endorsed 2023-24 Service Statements, approved and voted funds for expenditure in Operational Plan 2023-24, adopted Fees & Charges 2023-24 and adopted max fees where fees and charges are set by NSW Government
  • Council adopted Revenue Policy 2023-24 including rates and annual charges, provided a voluntary pensioner rebate of $40, made the rates and annual charges for the 2023-24 financial year
  • Council received information report on the status of three capital projects, the Queanbeyan Sewage Treatment Plant, the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct and Lascelles Street, Braidwood
  • Council received information report on Customer Service statistics
  • Council received report on councillor workshops held between 8-21 June including Draft Operational Plan and Budget – Review Public Submissions, Ellerton Drive Extension Loan Background and Funding, Dargues Gold Mine future operations
  • Council received a site inspection report for development application for the construction of a storage shed at 139 Wickerslack Lane, Googong No Tweet
  • Council noted the minutes of Local Development Committee and Local Traffic Committee meetings held on 6 June 2023 and adopted the recommendations
  • Council received delegate report from Cr Willis about meeting of the South-East Australian Transport Strategy Committee
  • Council received report with Questions with Notice, which will be answered at the meeting on 12 July 2023
  • In closed session, Council resolved to execute the Agreement for Lease of level 4 and 5 of the QCCP, execute a Heads of Agreement for level 3 of the QCCP and prepare a Heads of Agreement for lease of Ground Floor Office and Café areas
